Controls on the money

Separation of duties. The person who records a payment, loan or expense cannot approve it. Large outgoing payments need a second approval.
Corrections, never deletions. A verified record is fixed with a reversal that records its reason, so the original always stays visible.
An audit log that cannot be edited. Every action records who did it and when. The database itself refuses changes to the log.
Closed periods stay closed. After a quarter or year is closed, nothing can be backdated into it.
The books always agree. e-Mali regularly checks that the ledger matches the member, share and loan registers.

You do not need to know the articles. e-Mali applies the rules quietly as you work and only speaks up when something needs your attention.
Cooperatives: Law 057/2024 governing cooperatives in Rwanda, with RCA deadlines and reports built in.
Savings groups (Ibimina): Ministerial Order n° 001/24/10/TC (2024) on tontines, and its template rules of procedure. Registration is not needed to start.
Your own rules: Each group can adjust some rules. If a rule is set looser than the law's default, it is flagged so you can explain it to an auditor.

Your group's data is separate. No other organisation can see it.
Secure sign-in. Passwords are stored with strong hashing, failed logins are rate-limited, and idle sessions time out.
Access by role. Each person only sees what their role allows. Members only ever see their own records.
Documents kept for 10 years. Uploaded files are checked for type and stored in secure cloud storage. Deleted documents remain visible to auditors.
Data protection. We process personal data in line with Rwanda's Law n° 058/2021 on the protection of personal data and privacy.
