Our story
Before e-Mali, we worked with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero and Zoho. We saw what well-kept books give a business: clear reports, ready whenever someone asks. We also saw what they cost: a skilled accountant to set up the accounts and post every entry correctly.
Across Rwanda, cooperatives and savings groups (Ibimina) hold the savings of millions of people, and few of them have an accountant. Most of that money is still tracked in notebooks and spreadsheets. When a record is lost or a number does not add up, the group loses more than money. It loses trust.
So we built e-Mali to keep the books behind the scenes, following the IFRS for SMEs. Every franc a group handles has its proof, its approval and its place in the books, and every member can check their own balance.
